Interviews

Updated: Sep 6, 2019

Hello! We interviewed various people from our school about how they get to school:

Ms Chapman - English and Media Teacher

"I live quite close ( 18 minutes door to door) and since walking is better for the environment it's what I choose to do. But when I had thirty year eleven books to mark or it's raining outside I choose to take the car. I find walking is good for my mental health. I would recommend walking and I would consider it one of my hobbies."

Ms Murray - LRC " I walk because I live near, I also find it clears your head but I am annoyed to find that some teachers even though they live locally and only a few minutes away they still drive to school."

Mr Hemsley- CPSHE Teacher

"I walk because I live close to school and it's healthy. The fresh morning air is relaxing and it helps with anxiety. I would recommend it to anyone. I admit I sometimes do get a taxi to school if it is raining or if i have lot's of books but i always try to walk."

Keeley- Year 7 HSG student

" I get the bus to school (...) It depends on the weather and where i'm coming from. (...)If you think of the amount of buses in the world and then the amount of cars, buses can fit up to eighty people in them but cars can only fit up to seven people in them at once, I think it's just a waste of natural air (...) I wouldn't walk if it was a very hot day and if I was running late I also wouldn't walk. I would not walk if it was cold or wet but if it was a warm springs day I would be happy to walk."

Isobel-Year 7 HSG student

"I walk to school because it wakes me up in the morning, it's good for me and it's saving the planet. (...) I would recommend walking, it's fun especially when you are walking with your friends, (...) I take the bus if it's raining or if my legs hurt. (...) The advantages of walking are a healthy body and a cleaner planet. (...) The main reason that I walk is because my friends do and it is good for the planet."

As you can see the reasons why people walk are very similar (often for health and/or the environment.)

we would recommend walking if you live nearby your school or you could get the bus and walk if you live further away.

We hope that you took this on board,
