Us: When did you first join plastic club and why? Hanna: I first joined in October 2018 because I learned about the impact plastic had on our planet and decided I wanted to do something about it when the opportunity came up.
Us: What did you discuss at your very first meeting? Hanna: I think we discussed a plastic fishing trip we were going on, the importance of the club and why it was formed, as well as future tasks we would face and the opportunities that would come up.
Us: Have you participated in any campaigns or events? Hanna: A plastic fishing trip where we traveled on a boat made entirely of recycled plastic bottles. We also took part in Mass Unwrap, a campaign by plastic-free Crouch End. As part of this, we asked shoppers for their extra plastic packaging and we also told them why this was happening. The results were shocking as at the end of two and a half hours we had filled a 1m x 1m x 1m sack full of plastic which ranged from vegetable wrappers to plastic carrier bags. We then took it back to school to show everyone the shocking impact plastic has on this planet. That plastic has by now been transported back to Waitrose to be recycled.
Thanks Hanna for this amazing interview
We greatly encourage more children and schools to get involved with clubs like this!
We will post again soon,
