Airport Drinking Water

How many times have you been at an airport with a water bottle and before the security checks were asked to drink it or throw it in the nearest bin? Afterwards you walk on keeping your eyes peeled for any refill stations. However you are let down as you simply cannot find any water that does not come in a plastic bottle ☹️.
Every single year millions of people pass through airports around the word and as a result of not being able to refill their water bottles they create almost unbelievable amounts of plastic waste!

I realised this when I recently traveled from London Luton Airport. On my first few journeys I ended up refilling my bottle from a tap in the bathroom (which is not very hygienic - I do not recommend this)! Then, before my most recent flight, straight after the security checks and tucked into an out-of-sight corner behind the lift were three taps with a sign above them stating that it was drinking water! Great to see it, but why was it so hard to find?!

A tip is to empty out your water bottle fully before the security checks and then lay it out in the trays provided just like you would with a laptop or other electronic device. When you have cleared security you should be able to find a refill station. If ever in doubt visit here where you will find where to fill up your water bottle at all the airports in London.
What would have massively more impact however is only to fly once every three years (unless you have to)!! But that is a topic for another blog post...
Hope you find this useful,
